03/01/2004 Entry: "Ringed"

As soon as I saw that an over three hour movie won the Oscar for best editing, I knew Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, would win Best Picture and Best Director. How can a 3.5 hour movie win for best editing? Really, the award is for best NOT editing. This movie's editors had the easiest job in the whole project. One certainly can't say that such a long movie wins for editing, but that otherwise, the movie wasn't the best one there. Seabiscuit, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lost in Translation got Ringed.

Of course, Sophia's mummy and daddy set her up; she has full use of Daddy's resources and wealth to do with as she pleases. It makes sense that daddy would take good care of her after she bombed in his movie Godfather III. She has all the right connections to get all the right people to see things her way, and daddy is powerful enough in Hollywood to see to it that his little girl gets the good projects. On the other hand, as a child actress she had excellent range. Though born an infant girl, she portrayed the infant boy to the hilt. Way to go, Sophia. Why you weren't nominated for Godfather I is beyond me.

And why was Nick Cage clapping? Why, he's Nicolas Coppola, of course! He's Sophie's cousin! Uncle Francis set him up to win a while back too.
